Retirement Counseling
Let's Talk About Your Future
My approach to retirement counseling serves two distinct groups. Younger individuals where retirement is pretty far in the future, and those already retired or planning on retiring in the next few years.

Let's start with the younger group. Perhaps you will recognize yourself in this. The people that I work with here are typically focused on making progress with retirement planning. That could be the start of a plan or just getting savings in place, or maybe they already have a plan and contribute to a 401(k). But what they all have in common is that they are stuck. They can’t seem to move forward with that next step. This might be due to shame or anxiety of just being confused about where to start. Let’s agree that this stuff is not easy, especially on top of everything else going on in your life. You don’t have to do this alone. Together, we can get you moving in the right direction.

If you are in the older group, you are facing a massive transition. Not only are you stepping away from that regular paycheck you've enjoyed for the past 40 years, but you also need to figure out what you are leaving behind and what comes next. I can say from my own experience that this is very tough stuff. That first day when you are no longer employed can feel pretty weird.

Now you have multiple challenges. You need to figure out your new identity as a “retired person”. And, as if that wasn't enough, you need to take charge of the finances that have to last you the rest of your life. On top of this, you are likely hitting some of the other speed bumps that show up at this stage of life, maybe it is a health crisis with you or your partner, or the need to care for aging parents, or just acknowledging that your body is showing real signs of wear. This can feel like a tremendous burden at a time when things are supposed to be getting easier.
Or maybe retirement is just around the corner, and you are feeling overwhelmed. In either case, please understand that it is ok to ask for help.
